The Kalamazoo Speedway is set to run its first races of the season this Friday.
But only about 500 spectators will be allowed into the stands in an effort to maintain social distancing.
“Opening night usually we see close to 5,000 people,” said track owner, Gary Howe, in an interview with Fox 17. “When you see that and then have to come out here to see 500 people, that’s going to hurt.”
He says he hopes the governor loosens restrictions on public gatherings before the annual Kalamazoo Klash race, which is set to run July 29.
