The folks from Huey D’s Goodies made a special delivery to the Family Health Center on a recent Thursday – boxes of baked goods. What made the delivery special was that it was one of the final deliveries on behalf of Feed the Fight Kalamazoo.
“It has been a fun ride. I have always been down for giving back and helping people within our community, so it was a very unique privilege to help out,” said owner Demargeo White in an interview with Fox 17.
Feed the Fight Kalamazoo began soon after COVID-19 broke out in Michigan in 2020. It’s aim was to help support frontline workers with free food while also supporting local restaurants in the Kalamazoo area.
With vaccinations rising and new cases of COVID-19 falling, that mission is coming to an end. The organizations plans two more deliveries before wrapping up its work.
“We’re thrilled that we’ve had so many people step up to be part of this effort and we are saying a sweet farewell as we hope vaccinations go up, people are safe and someday we can move into a post COVID world,” said co-founder Jodi Michaels.
